Grenfell

"Grenfell - slowly getting better"

Was born in Grenfell and lived there as a child, throughout my life visited Grenfell due to Grandparents and family members living there. After not visiting their for almost twenty years, recently returned due to family member moving back to the town. Town seems to be slowly picking up with new estate slowly filling and the main street presents really well. Great IGA, fantastic pool and bowls club. Also excellent Go-kart club and track out the road towards West Wyalong at the Forbes turn off. Good golf club and tennis courts, but need more local patronage. Town has the potential to start to thrive but needs population to grow some more to obtain the critical mass required.

Anula

"Undiscovered Suburb"

24% parkland...family life, close to airport, Casuarina Shopping Complex, Darwin Golf Course, Hospital, Water park etc. We have lived here for over 7 years, after previously living in Bayview (supposedly an upmarket marina estate). We have looked at upgrading due to family size increasing over the years, but have decided on renovating as the suburb has more to offer than most of the so called 'premier' suburbs. Friendly, relaxing and quiet neighbourhood with close proximity to all major facilities. I jog and ride bikes with the kids at all hours through the parks and have enjoyed every minute of it. Love it!!!

Hi, sorry for the late post. After living in Anula for over 10 years I believe Anula is a friendly area. We have great neighbours and enjoy the location and the accessibility to shops, supermarkets, airport and hospital. Peter Bourke is the Immunologist at the Darwin Hospital, who is excellent, so your daughter should be in good hands.

Cootamundra

"Great country town"

We visit yearly to see parents and find the town a delight. Friendly, layed back and relaxing place to stay and live. Cootamundra is less then a hour to Wagga Wagga, 1 1/2 hours to Canberra and about 3 1/2 hours to Sydney. The major train line from Sydney to Melbourne goes through the town so you can also catch the XPT to either destination. From my limited experience it appears the Council and Town Planning are holding the town back, whilst they have many sporting events (touch, beach volleyball) that bring people to the town, they need to attract the larger business and franchises to town. If they continue to allow such business to go to towns only 30 minutes away then people will move to places like Young and Wagga Wagga rather than Cootamundra. Whilst I don't ever want to see Coota be a Young etc and maintain their small town status it has to be balanced and forward looking. All in all a beautiful town and I could easily retire here. Ensure you get a pest and building report prior to buying property especially older timber homes.
