Anson Street

"Nice neighbourly street"

Anson Street North, near Bletchington Public is a great place to live.

Nice wide street, excellent neighbours always ready to have a chat, handy to town, but away from pubs and shops.

Orange itself is a wonderful place to live. Having moved out of Sydney it's nice to finally have neighbours we know the names of, and happily have a chat on a weekend afternoon. It's also a refreshing change to have people in shops actually smile at you geniunely, and when they ask "How are you today?" they REALLY mean it!

Ok, so Orange gets cold in winter..... so what! All the more excuse to snuggle with loved ones, or catch up on reading, knitting, or other activities, and really after the first cold snap, you get used to it. At least when it is cold here, the sun is out and there is clear blue skies!

"Ok suburb - noisy street"

In general - South Wentworthville is a nice place to live.

Plus - felt safe, neighbours were nice, and convenient to Parramatta and many other places as near M4 and Cumberland Hwy. Close to T-Way.

Minus - Hampden Rd is very noisy - as it is a long straight smooth road, a lot of young hoons drive way too fast and loudly on it at night - especially on friday and saturday night. Not convenient if you want to use public transport like train - as Wentworthville or Merrylands station is too far to walk.

Overall, not a bad suburb - property prices are reasonable and the area is not full of units.

Linda Street

"OK to rent - not to buy...."

Lived here for almost 2 years.

Plus side - quiet, relatively safe (person wise) but not so safe for cars (mine was broken into and other on street were damaged), and clost to Hornsby Shopping centre.

Minus side - too built up, too many units without enough parking - especially at east end of linda street, very little privacy (pretty much all units look into someone elses lounge room - I remember being able to tell what movie the people in the next building and up a floor were watching on their big screen tv), Streets in general are terrible to drive on, people do not know how to use roundabouts and tend to drive too fast - especially when dark as there really aren't enough street lights.

I think it is an ok place to rent as a single or couple, but I would never buy here (prices are ridiculous) but I would never ever raise children in such an area.

"Lovely neighbourhood Street"

My parents have lived here since the suburb was first built and I lived here until 2002. In my experience the street is always friendly - always a wave, a smile or a hello when I return. Many years ago I invited a number of neighbours to my 21st as they were good friends and continue to be so.

It's a lovely quiet street with little traffic - kids often ride their bikes up and down or play cricket at one of the ends. The neighbours look out for each other - watch their houses when they go away, collect mail if needed and check out disturbances when they occur (very rarely though).

The couple of times when there has been bushfires down the end of the street in the army base land - the neighbours band together - help the fireres and each other with drinks, hoses etc.

Lovely place to live and to grow up in.

"If you love sirens...."

Harris Street, and Harris Park in general is too noisy, dirty and full of inconsiderate people.

Too often people come home at 2 or 3am and stand on the street talking extremely loudly. If it isn't loud neighbours - then it is the sirens that every day, and night go past our house on the way to somewhere else.

Too often people do not take the trouble to take the junk mail out of their letterbox and put it in their rubbish bin - they dump it on the footpath. It is also not uncommon to see hard rubbish on the footpath despite no hard rubbish collection being due.

Too often have I arrived home angry or scared. The residents of this area do not know how to drive safely or courteously. One day when I arrived to the front of my house, I was honked by another driver because they felt I hadn't indicated for long enough. When I pulled over and parked - he stopped illegally (blocking the road) - got out of his car and came towards me and threatened me. Other times I arrive home scared, because very rarely do people use the roundabouts in Harris Park correctly. They tend to drive straight through them with no consideration for any other traffic at all. I have had far too many misses. A 45yr old neighbour who shares our building was assaulted on the way home at 6pm one night by a group of young men.

Too often we have been broken into. We have a locked storage area and locked garage under the unit block we live in. The storage unit has been broken into 3 times, the garage twice and our car has had an attempted break in twice (which caused $800 damage). All this has occurred in less then 18 months.

About the only good thing about Harris Park is that the Police response time is short. However, the fact that I now have the police reporting line on speed dial - is not a good thing.

If you can live elsewhere - do so./'
