Margaret Street

"Quiet and close to everything"

Such a great street... a nice mix of old and new and very near to the beach. Lucky residents have the best of both worlds... a quiet location and so close to cafes, shops and the beach

Talgarth Way

"Wasn't a big fan of Talgarth Way"

Although it's a beautiful area, I found the neighbourhood dead for most of the day and everyone kept to themselves. People seemed very uptight and unfriendly and there seemed to be an anti-dog policy in the area. If a dog was off a lead, the ranger was called immediately and there were no parks near us with dog exercising areas, so not great for dog owners.

The view of the ocean was great though. There were no young children around when we lived there, so not ideal for young families. There are great parks and schools nearby and some beautiful walks along the coast.

North Banff Rd

"Great part of Floreat."

This is a great part of Floreat. Lots of smart new homes being built around the area... and so close to Herdsman Fresh and the Asian supermarket (which I love)

Whitfeld Street

"A Great Place for kids"

The park at the end of Whitfeld street is always full of kids and parents. Tiny Tots Tennis runs lessons for children in the afternoons. There are BBQ facilities in the park, as well as a play group and community-run kindy for 3-4 year olds.
It's a great place for families.

"Like Australia in the 70's"

The kids run around the street, the neighbours all know each other. It's a great street for families. But there are no shops within an easy stroll, although that's going to change with the new development. The 'old' part of Burns Beach is cut off from the new development, so hopefully the vibe of the street will remain good

Calais Road

"mixed bag of residents and lots of amenities"

up on the Brighton end of Calais Rd, there are a lot of convenient shops. A newsagent, hairdresser, butcher, Brighton Rd food market, hardware, baker etc. It's great for people who don't have cars. Lots of parks in the area. The only thing is that scarborough is quite condensed, so if you live near people who like to party, it can be a problem

Goldsworthy Road

"great spot - close to everywhere"

Our street is a great mix of modern and period architecture. There are tennis courts, swimming pools, large parks, boating and a bowling club within 5 minutes walk. Also, it's a very quick walk across Claremont Park to Bay View Terrace for great shopping and restaurants. You're near to good bus routes and close to the train. There are a number of great schools within walking distance. We love it here!

I agree - an excellent location if you can afford it!

Yes..not very cheap... but smaller blocks are going for roughly the same price as full size blocks in wembley, floreat, scarborough etc. There are more coming onto the market around here, so a good time for bargains (relatively)

Love to see some photos. Great area to live with great shops and transport to the city. Are there good local public schools as well as the highly regarded fee-paying schools?

East Claremont Primary is very near... as is Claremont Primary. Christchurch Grammar School is about 10 minutes away and next to that is MLC. There's also a community kindergarten at the end of the road.
