"It's safe, quiet & family oriented just the way we like it"

As I was saying in one of the posts, Griffin is lovely. It's safe, quiet & family oriented. My partner & I moved up to Brisbane from Sydney a few months ago & there were some reservations, as we know nothing about where to live in Brisbane. We considered a few suburbs (one was out of our price range, unfortunately) & in our searches, came across Griffin. One day I asked the residents in the street we were looking into buying & they had nothing but good to say about it. So, we took the plunged, bought a house & 5 months in & we're still here Haha! Kidding aside, the street we're in is lovely & so is our next-door neighbour, who said hello not long after we moved in. Not all suburbs are perfect. There's bound to be good & bad about it. Griffin is good for the most part - it's got a school, a couple of daycare centres, a gym & dine-in establishments. I sincerely hope the construction of a community shopping centre up the road goes ahead. It says to start in late 2022 & I don't see anything but an open field out there.

But quiet? not at all! Dog barking all the time where I live, loud music, muscle cars making lots of noise on the streets, ants area plague, and lastly some backyards flood under heavy rain conditions as well main road to Griffin state school (corner to the griffin state school). And of course, there's the Moreton Bay council which is really bad at addressing issues.

It's not fair to paint all of Griffin like that. There may be pockets, but not all. Our backyard neighbour had a get-together at Christmas & they were nice enough to slip us a note in the mailbox saying they were having a party & will be making some noise during the event. That was considerate of them, we thought. Finally, regarding your comment about flooding, we've not experienced anything like that in our street, so maybe in certain parts of Griffin, like the area you mentioned.

All I know is that I'm waiting for my fixed-term mortgage to end so I can put this house on the market and find a place somewhere else with bigger land in a not-as-crowded area. Happy that you found your spot tho. All was going smoothly for us until our next-door neighbor (lovely family) sold his house and a noisy family moved in instead - unlucky us! I tried to work things out with the owner a few times, and he basically told me to move out (maybe that's how he deals with neighbors in his home country), then I decide to replace all "near-new" windows and doors with double glassing (19k I could've paid down my mortgage) but still can hear their loud music, dog barking, and outside chat. We gave it up, it's time to move from this area. Not fair? :(

Sorry to hear that & it's not fair you have to move. I've got everything crossed that our friendly neighbours stay for a long time until we decide to move on.

Unruly Children constantly screaming and shouting + kicking their balls against the colour bond fence. Neighbours cars littered out the front of my house. Having my bin used for ones excess rubbish. Lack of respect with regards to living in close proximity to each other. Keep you voice down. Cats using my back garden as their personal toilet. Poor Council support. Very poor Council support. The need to register cats is strongly needed.
