"Terrible place. Best viewed through rear vision mirror."

We were passing through and stopped, happy to inject some money into the community. We could not find a decent place to eat. We ended up settling on a not-so good experience and the service was abysmal. The coffee at the cafe was atrocious. Youth wandering the streets, definitely didn’t feel safe. We returned to our car to find it damaged. Unbelievable! Will never come here again.

Macgregor

"Awesome Suburb, Amazing location"

Best location but still very quiet - 20mins to airport, 8mins to CBD with good traffic etc. Much nicer and cleaner than Sunnybank. Macgregor features houses more for families, Sunnybank is more for housesharing and renters of single rooms.
Excellent food options (not just asian food!) and amazing public transport and unbeatable location. 15mins to UQ, walk to Griffith. With the Netball Centre, very high end Physio services available & loads of GPs close by, too. Robertson State School is an excellent school with lovely students. Macgregor State School is not as good, as it is extremely large and has lost the personal touch and the students are sometimes quite disrespectful on their way home from school. Other choices in private schools nearby.
MacGregor is very highly recommended

Chandler

"Flood prone land with poor public transport options"

At the outset, the amount of land you could buy fairly cheaply in Chandler was the real attraction. Pretty area, too, but a bit rough looking. With research we found out why. Buses to schools and universities and the city were really only convenient from Carindale, so driving to catch the bus is hardly attractive. Security is a concern, being so close to Capalaba. Sadly loads of serious or fatal traffic incidents with noisy motorway and very busy main roads heard from all directions but the biggest worry is the propensity for the area to flood. You can buy on higher land but the Mac mansions built on flood land bring the prices and prestige down.

Murray Street

"Locals laugh about the speed cameras on Murray Street"

Now that I am no longer there, it is ludicrous that an area trying to attract tourists is trying to trap them. The locals are all aware and think it’s hilarious that so many visitors get caught. Talk about schadenfreude. Not a friendly place!

Nuriootpa and Tanunda are so much prettier and nicer to raise a family. I would never even think about living on Murray Street or in Angaston again.

Angaston

"Overpriced and under delivers - steer clear and go to Tanunda or Nuriootpa"

I have travelled a great deal and never felt so ripped off as when I visited Angaston. From the very steep restaurant prices, to the ho hum coffee, Angaston is what I would call a pretender. Other nearby towns are quaint, friendly and you want to stay longer. In Angaston you have Cafés which serve food of questionable origin. Even the street speed limits are there to catch out the poor unsuspecting tourists driving by. The locals were joking about how many are caught as the tourists look around and miss a solitary 50 sign in a thoroughfare street that very clearly just was and still looks like a 60 Zone.

Angaston is a tourist trap where many visitors will spend at least an extra $237 on a ridiculous fine and the locals think that’s funny. Don’t bother visiting or even thinking about moving there. The other Barossa towns are far prettier, more welcoming and with do much more to offer! We were just happy to finally see Angaston from our rear view mirror.
