Maribyrnong

"Close to nice parks and river, shops, restaurants, gyms, CBD"

Maribyrnong is an inner Melbourne (7km-9km depending on which part of the suburb) riverside suburb with nice parks and views. You can see people jogging or cycling along the Maribyrnong river, fishing and kayaking in the river, or enjoying a nice pizza or cuppa in the Boathouse or a beer or two over in the famous Anglers Tavern beer garden.

It's also the home of Highpoint Shopping Centre (2nd largest shopping centre in Melbourne) & Homemaker centre, has an ALDI store and is next to the fresh food market and Asian restaurants in Footscray.

For those who like to exercise, there is a fitness first gym (and a few other smaller gyms), Aquatic centre in Highpoint, tennis clubs, etc within the suburb. The local Maribyrnong Secondary College is the first government funded Sport Specialist School in Victoria, and Victoria University has campuses nearby.

Maribyrnong is only 15 minutes drive from the CBD (in off peak hours) and is accessible via tram 57 and buses. Alternatively one can catch the train to Footscray or Newmarket and catch connecting trams/buses from there. Depending on the specific location in the suburb it can take anywhere from half an hour to one hour to reach the CBD by public transport.
