Mountain Creek

"Where you can really live"

I have lived and worked in Mountain Creek since 1987. In the early days the area where Mountain Creek High School and the TAFE college was an air field and you could take joy flights in a tiger moth over the coast and surrounding areas. Karawatha Drive was unfinished and it was a dirt road to get to Headland Golf Club.
I believe that the reason that Mountain Creek is such a desirable place to live can be traced directly back to the individuals who had a vision for the future of the suburb. Mountain Creek Estate, Mountain Creek Park and Mountain Creek Meadows were the 3 major land developments on the northern side of Mountain Creek. The people behind these developments (including myself) were motivated by the desire to produce a development that we could all be proud of. Of course commercial reality was a major factor however at the end of the day everyone wanted to create a worthwhile and sustainable community environment to be enjoyed for the foreseeable future.
Larger lot sizes, wider streets, bird attracting trees, environmental sustainability and a multitude of other issues were all considered when the developments were being planned. However the sense of belonging, the community spirit, the atmosphere of Mountain Creek today is generated by the residents.
My family and I are glad that after 23 years living in Mountain Creek we are still able to be some of those people.
