"Houses and Complexes!"

Lots of houses on the M1 side of the street, and all the Townhouse complexes on the other. You can hear a slight moan of the Motorway, but ain't much really. Complex life is nice and secure, with the ability to do as you please within the confines of your security gates, without a worry in the world...

"Semi-arterial road."

If you can handle traffic, you could live here!
Hope Valley Football Club about halfway down the road provides great fitness opportunities for the daytime, and a clubhouse to booze on in over the weekend!

"Shoppers paradise, for a quiet little city!"

With not much more than 1.1 million residents in Greater Metro Adelaide, one tiny little mall is enough to hold all the retail therapy you'd ever need! Then, there is the Westfield Marion...

Great review Senense, sounds like a shoppers dream. I've never been to Adelaide myself, but is it reallt the sleepy hollow i hear it is?

Well, its not quite as quiet as we in Adelaide make it out to be. But, if you compare Adelaide to Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney or perhaps even Perth, you too, would call it a "Sleepy Hollow"!!!

County Street

"Quiet and cosy."

Quiet little street, with very little thru traffic. Have lived in this area for several years, although have recently moved to the next suburb over, and have had very little to complain about County Street. Nicest neighbours I've ever had!

G'day Senense, what was your reason for moving (if you don't mind me asking)?

Senense
Senense

Hi there Soutarm.

I am more than happy to answer your question.
Having had two kids since living at Hillcrest, we moved to Clearview as the house in Hillcrest was too small. Soon we will be moving to SE Queensland (for work purposes, not that I'm complaining!), and I look forward to reviewing our new home!

Nice... I wouldn't mind moving to Queensland for work. Looking forward to your new review! :)

"Revheads rule me!"

If you love "big man P-plate drivers" racing up and down your street, you'll be in for a real treat! Combine that with the beautiful view of the Enfield Crematorium, and you'll be in heaven in no time!

Reading Street

"Nice little street, pity about the surrounding streets, though..."

Nice little street, pity about Gordon Avenue and Alderney Avenue crossing it. Always busy for back roads. You wouldn't want to play a little street cricket or footy, as you are likely to have a car blindly turn into Reading Street at a fast rate of speed, all the while not looking where they are going!

The Clearview/Enfield area is a little "crime"y, with several streets in the area having been burglarised recently. Stolen, dumped and torched cars on Gordon Avenue does not help Reading Street's appeal.

Just a little fact I've known since 1999
Clearview has much much more higher crime than Enfield. I've lived in Enfield for 14 years now and found it more neighbourly, cleaner and greener, much much more safer than Clearview, so do your reasearch.

North

There is no crime in Enfield, I just found out.

This discussion is supposed to be about Reading Street in Clearview, not the greater Enfield area, but considering that someone has responded to my comments, it would be ignorant and rude to not have the decency to respond to theirs. The comments for Enfield and any other areas discussed below definitely deserve an individual review of their own, and I encourage others to start one up, but for now, lets respond to the comments about Enfield from "North", and any future comments can return to being about Reading Street.

I have an old (but huge) fact that plenty of people can back me up on. This one dates back to the early 80's at least! Clearview certainly DOES have an enormous crime rate compared to Enfield! I had lived in Hillcrest (no, not the hospital), Greenacres, Clearview, Broadview, and Enfield. I had worked in Gepps Cross, Kilburn and Blair Athol throughout that time too. Having lived and worked in Enfield and its surrounding suburbs from the 80's to 2008, that amounts to a little more than 14 years! Seems to me that I have quite a bit of research and experience with this area!

Yes, Enfield is more neighbourly, cleaner, greener, and perhaps more safer than Clearview. These things I do not deny. Its problem is that it is surrounded by the high crime areas like Blair Athol, Kilburn and Clearview, thus making it in itself, well, 'crime'y. So, as long as Blair Athol and Clearview remain as they are, Enfield will suffer. Take a look at Mawson Lakes, seems to be a nice area, but it will forever be scarred by the fact that it is joined at the hip to Parafield Gardens (I've worked in this area too, and the scum that I had to deal with was astonishing!).

But people, we have to understand one major problem here, and it is that, just because something is on the internet does not mean that it is instantly true. When haters like "North" happily make attacking comments on a public review forum (on Anzac Day morning too, thanks to those for their service to their country), they open themselves up to errors. When "North" claimed to have 'just found out' that there is no crime in Enfield, all credibility vanished like a rotten fart in the wind. I mean, seriously, NO crime? None at all? And you only just found out? Wow, it took you 14 years to figure out what most people have probably clued on to in the last 60 seconds wasted reading this comment!

thesuburbreviewer25

I think that North does like to attack other comments as well, Senense.
But the question was that is there crime in Enfield? You didn't have to give a list of Blair Athol, Kilburn and Mawson Lakes!! It was about Clearview AND Enfield.

thesuburbreviewer25
thesuburbreviewer25

I think that you are attacking everyone else reading this comment. Stop!

Senense

Whoa, hold the phone here! The review on Reading Street, Clearview was from 2007, almost 8 whole years ago. The comment from 'North' was from 2013, almost 2 years ago now. While my original review and comments are without doubt full of merit, surely (well, maybe) things have changed since then.

I attack no reader of this review other than those that attack me first. There is nothing wrong with defending oneself when under attack, is there? And AnnaT2, sounds like you are attacking both of us, doesn't it?

thesuburbreviewer25
thesuburbreviewer25

I'm not attacking anyone. I live in Enfield, so I can truly give you the best of the truth about Enfield.

thesuburbreviewer25
thesuburbreviewer25

Any by the way, your review from 2013 isn't a merit.

Senense
Senense

No, not attacking at all... Several years later, and you come along and point the finger at myself and North, telling us we are attackers. Completely unnecessary, and uncalled for.

Like my original post of self-defence in 2013 says, I have lived in these areas, and at the time of the review (which was in 2007, not 2013 as you have obviously misunderstood), the comments were full of merit, and nothing further from the truth. These comments were also about Reading Street, Clearview. The comparisons made to Enfield made Enfield look good in comparison to Clearview. Still, if you plant a rose bush in the middle of a pig sty, it will still come up smelling like sh!t.

I am quite certain that these comments are still quite true, even today in 2015. Just go for a drive past the old Enfield High School on Grand Junction Road to get a true feel for the area. But hey, if it helps you sleep at night, I'll let you think whatever you like. The decent folk browsing this page can form their own opinion with some well balanced perspective.

I suggest everyone read the original review on Reading Street again, then read the comment from 2013 again, and you will see that it is Reading Street that I am critical about and not Enfield.

Sensense, your ignorance is outstanding! First of all, I signed up on Homely not to make or start arguments or make other people feel bad, just to help other people by making very brief reviews about suburbs and streets in South Australia. Second of all, "I am quite certain that these comments are still quite true, even now in 2015". For real? I bet you that you know nothing that has happened in Enfield since your "supposedly" Reading Street review from 2007. Enfield has changed dramatically in crime, unlike the 90s generation! Third of all, where on earth did you get Grand Junction Road from? We're talking about Enfield, here! Fourth of all, I haven't' misunderstood absolutely nothing! I was saying that your review from 2013 was the long comment in the Comment section here. Looks like you have misunderstood, not me! What else would you like to say?

Senense
Senense

Well, firstly, It doesn't matter what your intentions were when you signed up, but rather what you have done to this conversation. You have started an argument that has made other people feel bad and feel the need to defend themselves. You have not even given your opinion yet, but only passed judgement on myself and 'North'. You haven't been helpful at all.

Secondly, I am amazed at your audacity to place bets on what I know about Enfield. I know that Enfield is still a much nicer suburb than Clearview is (see, I'm still not criticizing Enfield). I don't know why you are getting so aggressive about this.

Thirdly, Enfield's northern border with Gepps Cross is Grand Junction Road. Enfield High School is on Grand Junction Road. Yes, we are talking about Enfield. That is where Grand Junction Road comes into this.

Fourthly, you are right. You 'haven't misunderstood absolutely nothing', you have misunderstood everything! What else would I like to say? Your ignorance is my excuse, and I will defend myself against people like you until the end of time.

thesuburbreviewer25
thesuburbreviewer25

If you think that I misunderstood everything, then your wrong. I know everything your talking about, and never missed a word. And that's a fact, also. So I guess 'I am' sorry for starting this.

I've seen your review about Gordon Avenue, Clearview. I've heard it's a quiet area. But apparently there are hoons. What happens?

P-platers. Drag racing up and down the street. The quiet part is the cemetery. Look out for the drunken bowlers leaving the clubrooms in the afternoons!

I don't have one particular favourite. Perhaps Amagansett, NY or Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan, NY. Favourite in Australia has to be Buderim, QLD. Just beautiful!
