I've lived here for 12 years, nice little country town with country atmosphere. Good local shop with Bottle Shop, great country school and Hall. Markets are held at the hall once per month. Only about 15 - 25 minutes minutes from Gympie depending on which area of Widgee you live. It does have a problem with people moving our here and not keeping their dogs on their own property..so alot of wandering dog problems from irresponsible owners. A new estate has just been put in across from the school with some of the blocks already sold, so Widgee is growing.

I was born and raised in Gympie but have moved away and lived in a few other places. I always seem to come back because I haven't found anywhere that compares. Yes people will complain about crime, drugs etc as they do in every town but alot depends on where and who you hang out with in my opinion. I've never had any issues with either all of the years I've lived here..if you look for something you will find it.
Gympie is booming at the moment and the highway bypass is close to finishing. Great schools. My only complaints are the heat and humidity in Summer, public transport not that great and all of the hills, apart from that it's a good place to live.
