Sweet Wattle Place

"Great street with great people"

Sweet Wattle Place is located off Peter Kent Drive which is off the Frankston-Flinders Road. It is a no through road and has no through traffic.

Sweet Wattle Place has a great community spirit, especially during the summer months where you will find the Christmas lights go up and the couples and families mingle and enjoy the Christmas spirit together. Traffic can increase during the couple of weeks before Christmas as people like to come and see the lights.

Neighbours are helpful and friendly.

Home owners like to keep their gardens neat and tidy and often you can strike up a conversation with them whilst mowing, pruning or sweeping.

Most of the homes were built around 1999 and are on good size blocks, around 1000m2. The homes have a mixture of single and two storey many with lovely features.

Primary and high schools are walking distance and there are bus stops nearby to take kids to other high schools that are out of the area i.e Mornington, Tyabb, Frankston.

This street has a safe feeling where the neighbours are happy to look after your house, feed the cat and bring in the bins when you are away.

Kids can play safely in the street, parents and neighbours always keep an eye out for each others kids.

If you want a good manageable size home on a good size block with only a walking distance to shops, schools, vets, dentist, coffee shops etc and you would like peace and quiet, then Sweet Wattle Place offers just that.

Quite simply I would say it is the best street in Somerville and we are lucky to live here.

Somerville

"A great place for families, couples and the elderly."

We moved into Somerville in 2007. We knew that there were changes on the way meaning that investment was being made in Somerville meaning that it is an up and coming area.

Somerville was once the quiet apple orchard area, but changes have meant that land has been developed and offered housing for a range of people of all ages. This has given Somerville a good shopping centre that includes everything you will need and this has also created employment. There are nice walks and areas for kids to play, a local YMCA gym and aquatics centre so there is no excuse for not getting to the gym people!

The new bypass that is due to complete in 2013 will enable city workers faster and easier access to the city making Melbourne nearer to the residents of the Peninsula.

Employment opportunities in and around Somerville include a number of larger companies; Councils (Rosebud (Mornington Peninsula Shire) and Frankston (City of Frankston)), HMAS Cerberus, Chisholm TAFE, Monash Uni, BHP and Inghams. There are plenty of wineries and restaurants along the Peninsula offering lots of employment opportunities for all ages. There are a lot of medical employment opportunities too.

Somerville is close to beaches; 15 minutes drive and you can be at Frankston beach (which is a great safe beach for kids) but the benefit of Somerville is that we do not live amongst the high beach traffic. The Peninsula is where many head to for holidays, but for us we can pop down to the beach or a bit further towards Sorrento and feel like we are on holiday but with only a short drive home to our nice comfortable bed!

Sorrento has the ferry to Queenscliffe so a day trip to the otherside of the bay is easy to do and an exciting day out.

Somerville is close to Hasting Pelican Park where the kids can have fun in the leisure pool. For the school holidays kids can spend a day at the local RSPCA, Moonlit Animal Santuary for a nice day full of activities and don't forget, Dromana has the drive in movies making a great family night out!

In summary Somerville is great for all ages and has a lot to offer. Welcome to ''Sommie''!
