"Brightwater Estate"
I rented a duplex home with my partner in Brightwater for close to two years before moving. Honestly, I am glad to have moved. Brightwater is an estate best for people with children and young families as there is a Childcare centre and school within the complex. Great and convenient for some, but an annoyance for others like myself. Kids play on roads, etc...
Community:
People aren't the friendliest but will smile if you walk past on a walk. There is not really a sense of community if you aren't a parent or child. There are some troubles with teenagers in the area who will do car stunts at any given hour. Neighbours can be passive aggressive and would rather complain on the Brightwater Facebook page instead of doing it face to face (didn't happen to me just something I observed). There have been some break ins, and theft of bikes but overall a pretty safe area. Dogs do bark ALOT though and owners won't do anything about it.
Cleanliness:
People complain about the dog droppings left behind by irresponsible owners but the real issue is broken bottle glass and rubbish on roads and footpaths. The shrubs and gardens are often littered with trash. The lake also has some garbage in it which is a shame. Garden beds are nicely maintained by council workers and there is a lovely footpath near the dog park behind the school.
Prices:
Rent is expensive. I was paying $400 for a barely 2 bedroom duplex. Decent house and yard but the price is maxed out for the 'convenience' of how close you are to things. Keep this in mind.
Shops:
There's a gym, secondhand store, pub, cafe, fruit shop, $2 shop, dr, alcohol shop, chemist and an ALDI. I personally didn't use any of these shops except the fruit and veg one which has pretty good prices!
Paths:
This is the only thing I really liked about Brightwater. The paths are great for riding bikes on and you can even walk or bike to Kawana, Mooloolaba and the Sippy Downs Uni.
If you're thinking about moving to Brightwater I would strongly suggest you check out their Brightwater Community Facebook page and have a scroll through. They discuss the issues, complains, events and other stuff that goes on in the estate. You'll get a better feel of who lived here, don't feel weird if you want to lurk their profiles..you'll be surprised....This place really is for families and retired people. As a childless couple in their later 20s from a quiet countryside area it just didn't feel right.
