Dayboro

"A long commute to the City-Hope you like Snakes-Very humid in the Summer"

Having lived in Dayboro for a few years unfortunately enough was enough and we left the area recently due to the following:

I work in the city and my partner convinced me that the country life would be good for us and our kids. Having read the other reviews i feel i should add my views. The Journey to Petrie station would take me on average 18 minutes and once there you always have issue's parking as so many people use the station, so allow yourself 10 minutes to find a space. After walking to the platform and catching the city express (if i hadn't missed it due to the parking issue's) i found my daily door to door time on average to be 1 Hour 25 minutes each way and i work only 5 minutes walk from Brisbane central, so be warned!.

Dayboro on our first impression does have the feel of a "yesteryear" township but if you need a carton of milk or a six pack of beers after 7pm then be prepared for a long drive as Dayboro closes and Samford or Petrie are a good 40 minute return trip.

As traditional Aussie's we love the outdoors and wildlife that we have in our beautiful country but in our two and a half years in Dayboro we were concerned with the amount of Snakes we would see as deadly Brown snakes were all to common a sight and on a couple of occasions would enter the property(very scary)

Our impression when we moved to the area was that it would be cooler summers and warmer winters due to the surrounding area, but the humidity due to the moisture can make it unbearable in the summer and in winter the nights can get very cold. The rain is also an issue with Dayboro and much of the area floods easily and takes weeks/months to return to normal, in 2009 i could not cut my grass for nearly 3 months after heavy rain.

Hope my honest opinion goes towards helping anyone make an informed choice.

I'm sorry, but most of the downsides you point out are true of most rural areas.
Clearly you are a city person. Most people move here for the quiet and peaceful life, and are not concerned about having to buy milk and bread and beer before 7pm.
Good luck back in the suburbs.
