North Ipswich

"I would not do it again"

we lived here for a year on wyndham st next to the most horrible nosy neighbours ever. On the othersode was a day care where nosy neighbour worked so we had no peace. She would call our landlord and call us names to our landlord etc. We never threw any parties, we never made noise of any kind except vacuuming and mowing etc. We had alot of crime in the area and if we had not had a full 6ft fence I think we would have had more trouble. We used to have people jump our fence and hide in our yard if the coppers were looking for them etc. Our car alarm used to go off alot and people used to mark our house for dog napping.. Thanks but no thanks.. North Ipswich can keep itself.

I dont recommend this area for anyone unless you grew up there and its all old news to you. We came in from the darling downs and it was a shock.. we thought the darling downs was bad.. we loved in newtown and brassall too both of which were a lot better than north ipswich.

Also, look at the crime maps for the area.. you will soon see what I mean..

If you are renting keep away from the Professionals/Thornton Realestate.. just a heads up..

Not great for

  • Crime
  • Dog napping

Warwick

"I wont go back.. ever"

We lived in Warwick for a few years and hated every moment of it!

The locals are hit and miss. The shopping is better than most in the area.

Doctors are useless and if you have a serious medical condition stay away.. we used to drive to stanthorpe for a doctor.

Property Specialists are the best real estate in the area however alot of their investors are selling up. Our first house we spent a year in before it went up for sale so we moved into another house and we were there for 6 weeks before it went up for sale and we were forced out of our lease by a pushy nasty buyer who wanted to move in asap. Our next house we spent 9 months in before the owner started getting appraisals and valuations so we left the area before we could be forced out again.

If you are buying you might have a different opportunity but as renters we had no stability.. this also happened to is 3 times in Killarney and that was why we moved to warwick but the same thing happened.

I attended Warwick Hospital numerous times as an out patient and also as emergency. Both times I would have been better off at the butcher.. not even kidding.

Not great for

  • Poor rental market
  • No stability
  • Limited drs

Lowood

"Trouble trouble trouble"

At first before we moved here we hummed and harred about moving into the eagle rise estate. I should have listened to my gut.. its bloody horrible!!

Full of bloody junkies and bogans!! The day we moved in our back garage door had been tampered with and we found knives in the brick work.

Our house has been broken into 7 times in 5 years. Thankfully we have only been here for nearly a year and im done.. fed up and ready to leave..We have had to invest in a security camera system because our neighbour is a psycho. We have had someone arrested on our front lawn and our garden searched for drugs cuz the guy who was arrested threw them in the garden, we had a massive punch up on our front lawn on halloween .. we didnt even know the bloody people!! Not to mention the idiots doing burnouts and im waiting for a car to come through our house..

I have also been told by the lowood police that the parolees from the prison get discounted housing when they are released from the prison. That is also why the police are pretty much constantly patrolling the estate. .. so i was told.

The coppers from down north came up and just to go and get a lettuce from fernvale my husband was breathalised 2 times, the car searched inside and out on the way to and from fermvale (twice), drug tested just accross the road from our house .. which is fine as we dont do any of that.. but it certainly makes a quick trip a long trip!

the internet speeds are appalling too!

I liked lowood when we first moved here, but this last month and a bit has been hell and I can not wait to leave next july!

Word of advice is DONT DO IT!! We even kept to ourselves and know know one here thinking it would help us avoid trouble... it didnt..

Sure rent is cheap but this is why.. if it sounds too good to be true it probably is.. and now we have to fork out and move again and pay for our big mistake of moving here!!

Great for

  • Nice houses reasonable prices

Not great for

  • Slow internet
  • Keep to yourself
  • Crime and trouble
  • Not a good environment to raise children
  • IGA a rip off

Killarney

"Pretty town but.."

Killarney QLD is a very pretty town BUT the locals are awful people. They dont like people coming into town who were not born and bred there, especially if you are planning on sticking around. It is a very quiet town but as with all small towns everyone knows your business, even if you tell no one somehow they still manage. As for entertainment there's nothing. Queen Mary isn't too far away however it is always crowded and full of ticks. As far as shopping goes there is a fuel station, food works (heavily over priced), Take away (thats awful and soggy) as well as a few other little shops. Pleanty of parking out the front of the shops (no one ever uses them). I believe there is a medical centre there now and there is a child care place too. A relatively safe place as long as you dont get under the skin of the locals. No public transport.

Great for

  • Quiet
  • Pretty

Not great for

  • Expensive
  • Horrid locals
  • No entertainment
