Goodna

"Avoid!!!"

I live on the far side of Ipswich and think that the city of Ipswich is one of the best places in Australia to live but Goodna is an extremely dangerous suburb. Drugs, domestic violence, burglaries and racial intolerance in the suburb are rife. The ONLY decent school anywhere near Goodna is the Peter Claver private school! There is limited public transport and I know for a FACT that the bus drivers on the runs through Goodna tend to be the dregs of the company-most of them I'd rather walk than catch the bus they drive- it is far safer. Plus the prison is extremely close, do you really want to be raising your children in a suburb with such a stigma attached, near major industrial estates and in the shadow of a prison?

With comments like these I can see that it is likely that this person is the same as ‘Sponge’. Perhaps this person is jealous of the area, I see it highly unlikely that a person would be working here making these types of comments.

Of note I see that the person has not actually reviewed any other suburbs and yet is focussed on posting the most negative one and defamatory one that they could. Again appears to be a troubled person. I ask why they have not actually mentioned the suburb name of where they live or actually posted a review on where they do. Perhaps this speaks volume on the credibility of this review.

If this person lives on the far side of Ipswich they would be living close to the Borallon Correctional Centre which is on the far side of Ipswich.

Perhaps the next thing the person would be stating is that every suburb has a jail in it. Goodna certainly does not and is not an unsafe area. I feel very comfortable walking on a daily basis in the suburb.

Also I see that this person has given only two stars for transport. Goodna has a train station and a regular bus service. Perhaps he would have given it five stars if it simply had no public transport.

There are many great schools and in the case of a couple of them there are many people who travel from outside the area to come to the school.

Put simply this person has no idea about this great suburb!

I live next door to Goodna, in RBP, and neither are my *favourite* places. But neither are they the worst places to live! Every place has it's good and bad sides, but I'd not really consider Tam's review as he/she does not live here (and it doesn't sound like they have ever lived in Goodna??) So, stick to rating suburbs you do, or HAVE lived in Tamk... instead of downrating a place you merely drive through on the way to Brissy eh?

Public transport is GREAT in Goodna, and the bus drivers in Goodna are no different than bus drivers anywhere else.. simply people trying to earn a living. Your 'facts' don't really add up IMO.

wtf is with these stupid comments from TamK. I have lived in Goodna all my life and the only people that can bag Goodna are the locals. If you have never lived here then why put comments on here about the suburb. I go for walks everyday with my daughter and feel safe. In regards to the comment on drugs, domestic violence, burglaries and racial intolerance well you will get that no matter where you live and i have to say i dont really see any of those negative things happening much in Goodna these days. At the moment i am more worried about litter in the suburb and adequate roads and traffic safety. Not all the other stuff mentioned. I cant really comment on the bus services or the bus drivers as i dont need to travel by bus anywhere. And you obviously know nothing about the schools in Goodna. Try St Francis Xavier that has been around for 100 years and i attended there and it was a great school and still is, then there is Westside Christian College and Goodna State school. Not to mention all the other great schools we now have in surrounding suburbs sharing the same postcode as us here in Goodna. You obviously also dont know where prisons are situated as well, it is in Wacol and i dont see why living near a prison should affect your life. Now i am being honest with my comments and i have to say at times i dont like going into the shops at Goodna but have to say they are not as bad as Riverlink at Ipswich. I have seen more disturbing things there than at Goodna. I am quite happy to say i live in Goodna and i am now raising my daughter here with my husband. I think TamK needs to get themselves a more educated opinion before bagging a suburb they dont even live in.

If you don't live there, how can you judge? You are just using stereotypes, and incorrect ones at that. I can point to almost every statement you made and have arguements against it.

You obviously have never visited the Prision of Wacol (BCC), which i have and the staff and security are wonderful people and helpful and never make you feel unsafe or uncomfortable and go out of their way to help with children visiting(and wouldn't you feel safer with all the extra security and police always in the area?) then there's the RSPCA center across the road. I think in terms of public transport its often the way the commuters treat the drivers that bring out the worse in them. Goodna has a diverse range of cultures and backgrounds which helps make this place interesting and always something to talk about with anyone you meet. I have found everything withen reasonable distance and practicle. Try spending a couple of years or more in 'bad' areas between Caboolture and Morayfield where theres something always happening everyday involving the police then move back to Goodna- then I'm sure you will change your tune...

Disagree with 'TamK'. You obviously no nothing about Goodna and your comments are deliberately vicious. For starters Peter Claver college is not in Goodna but in Riverview. In Goodna there are 3 great schools, Francis Xavier, WCC and State School and more great schools within proximity. Several state of the art child care centers. Proof of that is I have kids of my own who attend school and daycare. Its heart warming watching my kids interact with children of diverse backgrounds. Goodna is certainly a place for young families providing the convenience of family and work.
You obviously don't take the bus and your comment about drivers being the dregs of the company is so wrong because bus drivers have a great responsibility in transporting passengers and it does confirm that Goodna has great transportation including train and bus. Which far side of Ipswich are you from? Is your partner a bus driver? Wacol prison is at least 6km from Goodna, but there's nothing wrong with that. Your comments should be based on facts which you don't have any.
