Sunbury

"Safe, secure and pretty too"

Sunbury is a very safe and secure place to bring up children. It's the sort of area where you can forget to lock your door and when you come back home, everything is still untouched.
The primary schools are some of the best in the Western Suburbs. There is also a good mix of government and private schools.
There are plenty of extra curricular activties for children from swimming, basketball and athletics, to dance, art and drama.
Sunbury has lots of shops, coffee shops and even a cinema. It is truly a lovely place to live.
There are many trees and in the town centre and in the estates. There are also a large number of nature reserves and parks.
Finally, the best thing about Sunbury is that everything keeps on improving- more shops, more housing, better medical facilities and transport. I love Sunbury and have lived here for 11 years. I hope to live here for many more.

  • Not very multicultural

  • Families with kids

This is only one incident in yardley street, and i was warned to stay away from that newer estate, as there are a lot of teenagers and older kids. Never a good thing in any town. Do you have experience of living in a better area?

ZZnukebombZZ - don't be so rude and hateful. I have lived in Sunbury for 12 years now and have never experienced any trouble. There are blackspots in every area and there is a well-known estate in Sunbury that is prone to burglaries but that is one estate - not the whole of Sunbury. Also, just because somebody has had a different experience to you, that does not mean you are right and they are wrong. It means you are all many parts of a bigger picture. Let people read all the reviews and then judge for themselves. Don't attack every review that does not agree with yours.
You also bag the governement high school and the private high school. How well do you trully know Sunbury because there are actually 2 government high schools, private Salesian College, some Christain schools and finally the government run Specialist School SMRSS which also has students of teenage years.
You seem to be on a one-person crusade to persuade the rest of the world that your view of Sunbury is the one, true view. You have moved now, so get on with the rest of your life. If you find you are having trouble moving on with your life, try looking in your current local directory for counselling services. Life is too short to spend it in bitterness.

That's awesome. I highly respect you opinion. I am afraid that far too often people are quick to denigrate this town.
It has truly amazing features and lots of character.
Take a stroll through many of the landmarks that this place has to offer and your sense of appreciation grows further.

@TheMac.. We are interested to move to Sunbury and looking for a block of land in Rosenthal Estate. From your above post I see there is one estate more prone to burglaries. Can you please advise which estate is that as we really done want to land up in a troubled area. Your guidance is highly appreciated and thanks for the great information about sunbury here.

I like the country feel n local shopping district but coming from st Albans this town shocked me
30 years and under residents don't seem to realise there is life outside of sunbury and they will steal from their own homes their neighbours and have no thought about anybody but themselves.
There is a high crime and drug presence here but has gotten better over the years.
It's a Beautiful place and is was to grow up in, beautiful nature a impressive golf course annual festivals, mini weekend or monthly street markets and plenty of entertainment provided by local pubs and community clubs.

I don't understand why they are so miserable.
I think one of the main problems here is that there is a lot of crime and they do go to jail and sunbury seems to have a lighter safer feel it gets cleaned up but for a limited time only those people who have no appreciation for anything and act as if they are entitled to anything they want and they will take are then released back into the community and bailed to their home address back in the mix of the trouble and have no responsibilities and therefore the bad eeri feel repeats.

my advice is to be safe like any suburb but choose wisely who you associate with and if you have kids keep them busy with planned after school activities ( plenty to explore )
so they don't hang out in streets and get mixing with the wrong people.
Other than that there is beautiful scenery, kangaroos are not seen as much as a few years ago but I have pet possums I hand feed and I love.

for anyone needing material emergency aid food and relief there are multiple facilities here that help and the mature generation here are very compassionate.

Also great is we have chemist warehouse X2, aldi, NQR, Coles, Woolworths x2, target, Harris Scarfe, big W, best and less, car washes, golf course, a new massive skate park, swimming pool, and more and all just around the corner no matter where in Sunbury you live
And not forgetting the best fish and chips and pizza.

There are many pro's and regards to the cons just be safe lock up have insurance and stay switched on.
