Maribyrnong

"Lovely neighbourhood within 9kms from the city!"

We moved here late 2018 and have never regretted doing it. We used to live 22kms away and since we work in CBD, spent so much time travelling. Got sick of the long daily commute and thought to look for a place within 10kms from CBD and found a place here in Maribyrnong. The neighbours in our street are all nice. They have been really friendly, helpful and welcoming - we have been sharing fresh produce, cooked dishes, even meals. Commute to city is a breeze too, Tram + Metro from Ascot Vale is just 25 mins door to door, takes 35 mins if from Newmarket station. Convenient to everything you may ever need, Highpoint, Home Depot nearby, Footscray market or even Queen Victoria Market in ~20mins drive away. Essendon DFO and airport not too far either. Maribyrnong river is nearby, great for walks after work or weekend picnic/bbq/jogging catch up with friends. Lots of open spaces, playgrounds and 2 golf courses. Saw groups every now and then kayaking in the river too if you are into it. Got decent community pool and gym beside Highpoint as well making that area a one stop shop. We do not have kids yet so I cannot comment on schools but friends sending their kids to nearby schools are pretty happy. Safety and security wise, we only know of one burglary incident since we moved so far, we generally feel safe here because everyone in our street looks after each other. Capital growth is likely given the proximity to CBD as well.
We see ourselves staying here for long for sure.

Cons:
As daily commuters, we get to see some funny personalities taking Tram 57 (not in Maribyrnong area, but the areas in between it and CBD), but I guess that is everywhere these days.
