Warwick

"Overpriced, very hot weather and lazy Council"

Warwick QLD located in the Southern Downs Region seemed nice upon first moving to the region. However, due to the incompetent Local Government - Southern Downs Regional Council the region is a horrible place to live, work or visit. Service requests through Council will be ignored and as other have said rates are extremely expensive - any land under 4000m2 is classified as residential 1 costing upwards of $3600 per year.. There is never enough street parking around the shopping district and the roads are some of the worst around. Water charges are constantly going up too. Rentals are on par with the Gold Coast and other major towns and the housing market is just as bad - if you don't get a corrupt real estate who is only looking out for their friends or family.

We are a young family who recently moved to the region (less than 6 months), running a successful business. After the constant price increases and issues dealing with Council we are selling our property and moving to Tasmania where property prices are cheaper, property rates are cheaper and Local Governments actually do work.
