Waverley

"The "mothering" suburb to Bondi and Bronte"

The first place we rented here in Australia was in the heart of Charing Cross, the "Capital" of Waverley, the little Village Center for People of the Bronte, Waverley and North Randwick area. I love Charing Cross, the cafes, the friendly staff at the News Agency, convenience stores, boutiques, hairdressers, fruit shops and restaurants - you literally have it all on your doorstep - and if you must, the hustle and bustle of Bondi Junction's Westfield is only 15 Minutes walk away, or a 3 min drive on the bus. Stunning Bronte Beach is not even 20 minutes walking distance following Bronte Road and a stroll through peacful Bronte Gully.
Sometimes I feel like "Waverley" is overlooked because of it's vicinity to Bondi and Bronte Beaches, but really it is probably the most convenient suburb in between beaches and City with a very nice community feel.
When looking to upgrade to a bigger apartment we didn't want to move out of the area anymore, the little further distance to the beach was totally made up for with the convenience of having plenty of busses in every directions to choose from, shops at the doorstep, literally everything in walking distance. We still made it (only just) into the Bronte area now, which due to my love for the Beach would have to be my favorite suburb here in Sydney. But when people ask me where I live, I mostly tell them Charing Cross, Waverley - as this for some reason sounds a lot more "down to earth" as well :-)
