Truganina

"Lived here for 5 years"

Well, we have been living here for 5 years and have seen the suburb evolve. When we came in 2010, it took me 6 months to get ADSL connection from Telstra. Man it was a struggle! Got the connection after complaints and eventually was upgraded to ADSL 2+ and there is no looking back. The connection is blistering fast and I am happy with it. I am a tech freak and Internet is way to important for me.

The place: There are newly planted trees everywhere so if you are expecting this to be a greeny suburb, please look at S.E. suburbs. There's like 1000s of acres available and under construction with new homes. parking has never been a problem. I can only imagine what traffic will be like in the next few years unless council does something. Traffic is crazy on Sayers road, Moris Road and Leakes road during peak hours (from 6am - 8:30am and 5pm - 6:30pm). All other times, there is no traffic. I think this is common in all the suburbs, I may be wrong.

Shops/Cafes/Nightlife: We have Wyndham Village shopping center which is just okay with basic amenities. The food court is crap. There are more shops coming up as SAMS warehouse has closed down. New restaurants are coming up next to Wyndham Village shopping center. Nightlife, what nightlife?! There is no nightlife in Truganina!

Medical: This suburb is awesome for medical help. You can find clinics that are open till 12am! Some of the docs are crazy and some are really good. You find this everywhere. There are good number dental clinics and two Super Medical center have just opened doors in Truganina, both on Sayers road.

Parks: Good number of parks and open land. Some of them are well maintained. There are few Kids park but i really want council to create more or expand the current ones with better equipments as this suburb and the surrounding ones have thousands of young kids.

Culture/community: You will find tons of Indians (me being on of them) and other Asian, African and middle eastern community with good number Australians. The community has a variety of income earners from high to average earners. I can make this out by looking at my street and where my friends live and also with people in the shopping center.

Shopping: Werribee plaza is crap but is under construction. Hoping it to be a good one once completed. I prefer HighPoint.

Transport: Well connected by Bus and train with Williams Landing train station. The new tarneit V Line Train station will start mid June 2015.

School - I heard schools are an absolute crap here. There are lots of child care. And please be aware of the family day cares, some of them are disgusting!
Some of you have mentioned of the parking issues at the Islamic School. This has never affected me as most of the people park in the service lane in front of the school.

Overall, I am satisfied with the surburb as it caters my need though i there are a lot of things that needs to be looked at by the council. The best part of living in Truganina is you can get the best of Tarniet, Williams Landing, Hoppers crossing and Werribee. You dont have to pay tons to buy a house. They are affordable. If you are planning to invest and can wait, this is a good suburb for long run but not for a short high gain. With so much under construction and population boom in Truganina and Tarniet, these suburbs will be hot properties in the next 5-10 years.
