Is there anything about Valley View that is unsafe or dodgy?

I am moving from interstate and need to be in the north, unsure of this area.

No.
Valley view is a large suburb and includes (i think) 3 different council areas. It also borders with several different suburbs of varying quality - so there is a spread. Some pockets are like a different suburb altogether than others. But even the 'lesser' areas are still perfectly safe.
Tea Tree Gully council is arguably the better part of VV (higher rates i believe). With port adelaide enfield and salisbury being perhaps not as good. But all perfectly fine.
VV doesnt have anywhere near as many dodgy & run down housing trust homes as surrounding areas however often gets bundled in with them by those who don't know any better because it's the next suburb along. In this way it is sort of a hidden gem.
Have lived here 5 years, never had any issues.
Might get some hoon drivers if close to main roads, and the occasional slob house with 5 cars in the overgrown front yard (which are gradually getting torn down and replaced with new ones...) but nothing unsafe.
And now the part you've been waiting for - the end towards ingle farm is where it tends to get a bit more run down.
