Vermont South shopping centre on Burwood Highway has a few cute little cafes, but the shops along Canterbury Road/Boronia Road intersection have a few great cafes + subway as well. Try Frienz Like You in the Canterbury Road/Boronia Road intersection shops (great friendly staff and nice lunch bites).
Or head 5 minutes up the Road to Mitcham where there are a range of places to go (try Komo Japense on Whitehorse Road or Two Brothers cafe on Mitchum Road).
