Although Visitacion Valley is not the most dangerous neighborhood in San Francisco, it is still not what I would call safe. You get a fair number of assaults (more than 100 in th last 6 months), roberries (more than 70) and even sexual crimes (more than a dozen cases of indecent exposure and sexual assault).
But this is the city, so you should expect this.
