Yep. They have to be done by November 30 every year. Breaks must be cleared down to mineral earth for a width and height of 3m all the way around your property. Most people get contractors to plough them with tractors. We choose to keep ours clear by spraying with herbicide. You can apply for exemptions for sections that have well-watered green grass which is kept mown short, e.g. in a horse paddock. However, fire service vehicles must still be able to circumnavigate your property.
