"Character homes and great community."

Growing up in the area we have seen a lot of change from when I went to Croydon Primary school. The area is full of caricature homes and a wonderful community. Most homes are from around1910  and lost of them have been restored to their former glory. There is a great community feel about West Croydon We mangar property in the area now and have sold a number of homes also. Tim Morris property manager & sales.

Looking for a home in West Croydon?

"Love the area"

I have lived in the area for 23 years we bought when we first got married.

I love the area it has nice community feel and my husband is well know for riding his bike with his dog in tow around the district. Crime does come and grow but feel safe walking around the district. I am proud of our little suburb and what it has to offer. I love the old trees and heritage housing combined with being central the place is amazing

"Excellent place to live"

I’ve lived in West Croydon for28 years. It’s a peaceful, pleasant neighbourhood close to town and beach. Great cafes and restaurants within West Croydon and Croydon and also many excellent and mostly inexpensive Asian, African and European in the surrounding suburbs including authentic Vietnamese, Afghan, Greek, Indian, Thai and Balkan cuisines and also Including places catering to people preferring a plant based diet. Charles Sturt council value the heritage homes in the area and generously subsidise some improvements that restore historic accuracy to house frontages, for example fences. Good friendly local community. Excellent train service. A great place to live. I’ve not known the area to be unsafe even when we first arrived here. In fact very welcoming right from the start. 🌸🌼🌺🌻

"A lot has obviously changed since those last reviews!"

I'm not sure how old some of the other reviews are (this one's late 2019) but the Croydon I live in bears no resemblance to some of the ones other reviewers have spoken about. I've lived here five years and have never seen any drug paraphernalia or similar. The suburb (and neighbouring West Croydon) have gentrified significantly in the last 10-15 years, with lots of the older residents departing and new young professionals families taking their place, attracted to the beautiful heritage housing stock, great cafe strip, lovely parks and proximity to public transport and the CBD. House prices have subsequently increased quite a lot but there are still some bargains to be had if you're willing to roll up your sleeves and renovate.

I couldn't think of a nicer place to bring up a family - this city-fringe heritage suburb is on track to become the next Unley in my opinion.

"Hmm"

Some nice old houses, but lots of crime and less than desirable people. Will probably have some decent price increases over the years, but you will need to get lucky to get a street full of people you would want to talk too.

"West Croydon "Heaps Good""

I have lived here for nearly 23 yrs and have seen this suburb grow from a not so likable place , to a place were there is beautiful street cafe's and retro shops, and the wonderful parks where children can play.
The shopping centres that are a stone's throw away, the Entertainment centre , Trams that will take you to the heart of the city and in the not to distant future the beaches of semaphore .The people are friendly and greet you with a smile.
This is a great place to raise a family or sit back and let the world go by without the hussle & bustle knowing you are only 7 minutes to the city.
I live on one of the leafier streets which is fantastic. From the summer shade to the auttum litter of leaves ther is no place i'de rather be than this ever growing
suburb of West Croydon.

"A top spot recently rediscovered by some"

My sister lived here for a while and it was a great place to visit. Parks, wide streets and old houses made for a very appealing area. The run into the city is fast and there is reasonable public transport. Shops aren't too far away and neither are schools and some reaonable places to get soemthing to eat.

The streets are quiet and tranquil and I think recently it has been noticed as a good place to be. There has been a bit of an injection of new people into the area revitalising it and some older houses and blocks have made way for newer courtyard homes.

I have seriously considered buying in here but now I fear I may have missed the boat. A great place for young families.
