Reviews of West Lakes, SA

"On the lake and next to the beach!"

West lakes is a stunning suburb, full of beautiful homes and greenery. It is very family friendly and has a very impressive Westfield shopping centre. The suburb has a beautiful lake walk and is walking distance to the beach. There are lots of restaurants and cafes to choose from nearby and it is obvious that the suburb is having money spent on it, with lots of developments and upgrades happening. West lakes is only a 20 min drive to the city and 15-20 to the airport. I would highly recommend this suburb to live for anyone.

"100% perfect"

Having been brought up in West Lakes, yet also having had the experience of living interstate and overseas, I would rate West Lakes as being one of the best places to live in Australia.

If you move here, you will only benefit from what this suburb has to offer - and it has everything anyone could ever need.

"West Lakes "Green" the True Jewel in the Crown""

With the trend escalating favourably towards beach side suburbs the West Lakes "Green" as it is often referred is that area of land adjacent to Grange and the Golf course and directly opposite to Tennyson.

It is considered to be the True Jewel in the Crown by many property speculators and below is the reason why.

Our property is a 7 minute walk to Tennyson Beach 15 minute walk to the Grange Jetty and less than a minute to the "Rowing Lake" which has a fully accessible 2 km walkway along the lake on both sides in particular the Tennyson end for a relaxing walk. Something that you cannot not do on Delfin Island.

It is also next to the Grange Golf course which also offers accessibility for a walk around the beautiful environs.
The homes in this "pocket" as in all of West Lakes are well maintained and the neighbourhood is very friendly.
There are many Grand Homes scattered near the Golf Course in the cul de sacs as well as on St Andrews Way and Beeston Way to name a few.
Property prices are still affordable at the moment however as discussed with many property speculators moving in that" luxury" will be short lived.
As an example recently in St Andrews Way 2 blocks which were not near the golf course recently sold for $475K with an area of 325 sqm .
A testament that people are already waking up to the great lifestyle that awaits you in this coastal locale.
The "Green" has by far the best accessibility and proximity to the beach, largest walking access to the lake and golf course and the closest to Grange and Henley Square as compared to any of the other "West Lakes" locales including Delfin Island, Frederick Road/ Lochside Drive and New Development on Brebner Drive.
Sportmans Drive is serviced by quite a few buses and if you so desire the Grange Train Station is a pleasant 15 minute walk.,
It is also within walking distance to the West Lakes Shopping Hub.
Being so close to the beach and the lake and surrounded by the expanse of the Grange Golf Course you experience the relieving and refreshing cool sea and golf course breezes that revitalise our homes on those hot summer nights.
The "Green" is West Lakes best kept secret but not for long.

"A safe, friendly and prime location in Adelaide's West!"

Although I am not a resident of West Lakes, I know people of who live here so I've gained some insight and experience that I hope the residents reading this/people wanting to live here can relate to.

West Lakes is a western suburb located in metropolitan Adelaide, South Australia. Situated only 5 minutes from the beach and 25 minutes to the CBD, West Lakes is a place for everyone. The neighbours here are very friendly, even at the local parks! You should know from now that these people are lovely and approachable people, willing to keep your garden tidy or even bring in your garbage bins on a weekly basis if your on holiday. The neighbourly spirit around here is welcoming. West Lakes is also an extremely safe area, with (basically) no crime going on here, it's unheard of. The fact that majority of homes in the area don't have fences is one way to realise how safe it is, and it is very safe. I could even feel safe taking a beautiful summers evening stroll at 9:30pm at night than in other areas I've been to. Standing out or sitting on the front porch enjoying the fresh breeze at night will also not be a problem. It is also very peaceful and even graceful in the area all day and all night. The area is very clean and green, I actually never see garbage around!

Discussing amenities, West Lakes has it all! Although a bit far from the city centre (25 mins), it is still a pleasent drive. I'd rather live further from the city just because it's a nice drive and also the fact that most suburbs located a bit further from the CBD, including West Lakes, are nicer than those 10 minutes from the CBD, so there's an extra bonus. Shopping access is easy, with the popular and busy Westfield West Lakes (located West Lakes Boulevard, West Lakes) has everything you need! Coles, Woolworths, Kmart, Target to name a few. Eateries are also pleasing in the area, as you have local cafes in and around West Lakes. Medical facilities are close by, with the closest being on Bartley Terrace at Grange. Schools and childcare is excellent, as you have West Lakes Shore Primary School (West Lakes Shore), Nazareth Catholic College (Primary campus at Findon, Secondary campus at Flinders Park - both suburbs are roughly 10 mins from West
Lakes), St Michael's College (Henley Beach), and many more! Public transport runs smoothly along West Lakes Boulevard into the CBD or even wherever you desire.

Overall, West Lakes is the perfect place to grow up or live in, as you have a friendly atmosphere all year long, amenities all close by including schools, parks and recreation, and of course, the area itself! It's gorgeous! I reccomend this place for everyone, and even though I'm a visitor because I know people living here, I've seen and experienced West Lakes and I'll tell you, there's not one bit not to like about WEST LAKES!

"An area for the water lover"

Home of South Australian football and home to some great houses. West Lakes, the man made salt water lakes makes for a good spot for a lot of water sports and fishing. The beach is close by. West Lakes is home of Football Park and has a good sized shopping centre so there is plenty to do.

There is a good blend of houses in West Lakes from the standard three bedroom home to the more expensive feature homes on the lakes themselves.

Getting into the city isn't too difficult and the area is reasonably well serviced by public transport.
There are some nice places to eat around West Lakes and a few good places to grab a drink.
Because it is the home of Football Park it can get busy on game day (one day a week for most of the year) means there are a lot of people looking for parks in the areas around the stadium. This can be a pain. However, with more buses running there are more and more people choosing to bus it to the game rather than drive. So this should improve.

"A comfortable suburb by the sea"

Home to South Australia’s AAMI Stadium (Football Park), West Lakes is the home of the Crows and hosts Port Power’s home matches.

A 40 minute drive from the CBD, West Lakes is serviced by buses although not necessarily frequent. Traffic in the region can be a real challenge on any given weekend during the football season.

West Lakes is a very comfortable and at times flashy suburb. There are modern mansions lining the lakes themselves, including one owned by Lleyton Hewitt (a West Lakes local). The other houses in the suburb are spacious, comfortable and large, with big gardens and ample parking.

West Lakes has a lot to offer. There is a large shopping complex, a number of cafes and restaurants, and the West Lakes Shores function centre, plus the beach is just a stone’s throw away.
