For maximum proximity to the city and Flagstaff Gardens access, Jeffcott and Batman Streets; for leafiness and heritage housing try Roden Street (especially between King & Spencer) or Adderley Street. There's also a pleasant heritage pocket around Milton and William Streets just behind the markets above Flagstaff Gardens worth a look.
