"Horrible town"

I have lived here my whole life and I've been placed into a category of "bad kid" due to living in this suburb. Windale is held down for it's reputation of drug dealers, alcoholics, fights and overall residents behavior it is not a safe town for children while growing up I was mugged by adults for my bikes, scooters and on occasion shoes and if ur children don't act poorley they will be bullied relentlessly it may be in a good area not far from the beach and close to Charlestown square but don't be fooled. Oh and I fergot to ad in that police refuse to take you seriously because of the town and the council never attends to fix any on going issues such arising gangs.
This is by far the worse town I have ever seen in my life.

I was there in March-april first time. N everyone was telling me not to walk around or go anywhere alone so I totally did all the time I honestly didn't believe it was that bad n luckily I didn't seem to have any problems except from chicks thinking I was my dad's new women stepping on toes apparently.
I'm trying to move somewhere close but I don't want my son hurt

Suppose people have to fight for the right to live somewhere. Sounds like a tree in the bush, might be safer

"Newcastle's best kept secret"

This is a great place of convenience and affordability. 5 minutes to the lake. 5 minutes to the beach. 5 minutes to major shopping centres, medical, and commercial hubs such as Charlestown, Mt Hutton, and Belmont. 15 minutes to Newcastle University, 15 minutes to Newcastle city. Some high-set streets with nice views, fresh ocean breezes, large blocks of land. Yes this suburb had a stigma as a 1960's "houso" area - but location-wise this region ticks all the boxes. It's not quite there yet - but times are changing. There are knock-down-rebuilds, renovations everywhere to be seen, the demographic is changing and so are the old attitudes and stereotypes.

"A n uncomfortable, noisy place."

My partner and I have lived in Windale for 6 months. In that time our house has had eggs thrown at it, litter has been thrown in our yard, the local "roaming" dogs use our lawn as a lavatory, and our numbers have been removed from our letter box. Nearly every afternoon Dirt Bikes hoon around our street and cars do burn outs. The people accross the road from us prefer to play their music at twice the decibels that the human ear can take at 10pm most Thursdays and Fridays. If it were not for the Neighbours, Windale would be nice. It is a good distance from Newcastle City and the Lakeside, and a small walk to Mount Hutton Shops.

Rentals in Windale

"Second generation Windalian"

I grew up in Windale and I am now a home owner here and raising my own children.
Windale has improved so much over the years. There are still a few areas that need improving but most suburbs have areas like that.
So many homes are privately owned now and majority of us take pride in the appearance of our homes. Majority have had some type of renovation done to them and with so many nicer homes here now it increases the street appeal and therefore raises the house values.
The by pass has been a huge bonus to us. We are so close to everything now and even the public transport is great. Buses that run through Windale will take you all over the place!
The local Schools are great. We have a public school and a Catholic school. Both receive alot of funding and the children have so many wonderful opportunities. The local high school is in the next suburb and within walking distance.
We have a great Football team (Windale Eagles) for juniors and seniors.
I love my neighbourhood. Most people here are super friendly and would do almost anything to help you.
I once put some freebies out on the front curb after a garage sale and people actually came and knocked on the door to double check that it was ok to take them.

"Big blocks. Solid houses. Great neighbours. And it's CHEAP!"

We are from out of town, so we judged Windale by our actual experiences and not it's reputation. Our street is quiet and mostly private housing. The neighbours have bee there for decades and are happy to have new families moving into the area. We have got to know more people living in Windale than anywhere else we've lived and we can't find a reason to move to any of the so called 'nicer areas'.

There are a few interesting people around, but if you say hi to them they are happy to have a bit of a chat. They may look a little rough but they are just people too. We never get any grief from others in the suburb and have zero security issues, despite what outsiders might think. I don't really mind the reputation 'cause it is keeping the prices low.

The local post office is a particular hightlight. Where else can you go, where the staff remember your name and have your parcel ready to go before you've even got to the counter? Fantastic service!

The location is also fantastic. It is 5 mins to Warners Bay and 5 mins to the beach. And if you need to go to the city it's only 10 mins. Why would I pay more to live on a smaller block and be further from the best parts of Newcastle/Lake Macquarie?
