How friendly are the locals and the area in general?
Im moving to Wonthaggi in about 4 weeks with my wife and two young children of 6 and 4 years of age. We are convinced we're making a great move from the suburbs of Melbourne but are of course nervous and a bit worried about being outsiders in a new area.
Any advice on moving to the area?
Where's the best and freshest butcher?
How much colder and wetter is it than Melbourne?

I love Wonthaggi. It is a big country town with modern conveniences. Close proximity to beautiful farm land and the coast. A great affordable lifestyle for young families. With some great facilities.
I believe the weather is better down this way than Melbourne.... Colder, windier, but dryer and more outdoorsy for some reason.
