Regrets

My advice to you would be that if you want to have any idea of what a true slum is you travel to a third world country. Woodridge is not paradise but it has come a long way and in my opinion it has nothing to do with a slum. We all need to live somewhere.
It's all relative as Dan points out :)
I always tell people to visit Logan Central shopping centre for 30 minutes, perhaps on pension and benefits day :) Grab yourself a coffee and sit down for 30 minutes to observe. 1) You will have an interesting time 2) You should get a reasonable idea about whether it would suit you as an area to live.
Other than this have a talk with some property managers in the region about the best locations, there is good and bad in most areas.
I'm an outside visitor and hate the place. It may not be a third world slum in the fact that it has good infrastructure, but the criminals, addicts and misfits certainly make it uninhabitable for the responsible hard working citizen.
There are a number of good people living in the suburb but the numbers of drug addicts, criminals and social misfits far exceed the good ones.
Police and council turn a blind eye. Maybe the job is just too big for them or maybe they just can't be bothered to get off their behinds.
