Are there much outdoor activities or clubs for people in mid twenty's?

I am thinking of moving to Rockhampton / Yeppoon from the UK in August for a new job. I am a single female in mid twenty's. All the posts I've read so far were about retirement and schools in Yeppon. Basically I want to find out if I will make a group of friends of similar age to myself if I moved over and if there is much to do for people in my age group. It is a little scary and exciting too to go alone! I am very into the out doors - snorkeling, scuba diving, surfing....
