Reviews of Arcadia Road, Galston
"Beautiful family area"
This meandering road begins at Galston Road, and passes through Arcadia, where it finally becomes Bay Road.
The area is semi-rural with many acreages, and blocks on Arcadia Rd generally range from large to huge. There is a mix of old and new styles, with new apartments and townhouses being developed within walking distance to the village centre.
Arcadia Rd offers many facilities for the community. There is a medical centre, a preschool, cafes and shops, and nearby are the library, and primary and high schools.
The Galston Club is also positioned on Arcadia Rd. This child friendly cub offers lunch and dinner – with an alfresco section, and kids play area.
Further north towards Arcadia is beautiful Fagan Park, a large reserve of approximately fifty-five hectares, which is popular with families. It has many facilities and activities including; BBQs and picnic areas, The Garden of Many Nations (10ha of garden), historic Netherby Homestead, Playgrounds, cycle paths (not sealed), and a coffee cart.
As with all Hill’s District suburbs, being so far from the coast, Galston can get very hot in summer time. There is a public swimming pool, but it’s indoor and heated.
This is a lovely area for families, with good value for money, and deceptively close to the city. Traffic can be bad however, so distance is not really a factor in driving times, and public transport is not good.
