The Royal Melbourne Show - Crap or not so crap?

I'm new to Melbourne, and some of my mates have told me not to worry about The Melbourne Show as it is really crap. True? I don't want to waste my money if it is.

I love the Melbourne show! I highly recommend going, especially if you are going with your partner. I went last year for the first time since I was a teenager, and was pleasantly surprised by how much fun it was. One thing though, the carni folk do rip you off. I spend a lot of money trying to win my girlfriend a "teddy" and it end up costing me over $40. Maybe I'm just crap at those games, but I think those carni's were ripping me off...BUT I think that's all part of the experience. Kinda like going to France to see rude people :)

Ignore your friends, and go!

If you haven't been at least once, you MUST go. If anything to appreciate the history of Melbourne. The Melbourne Show is an institution with its animals, rides and most importantly showbags! I remember the good old days when you could get 10 showbags for $5.

On the topic - what is everyone's favourite showbag of all time? I loved the Freddo one.

Watch your credit card swipes! I bought a $20 Avengers bag for my grandson yesterday and my card was swiped for $28....... Couldn't prove it but I'm sure it was deliberate! I picked it up, and the girl sheepishly gave me $8 cash...... I have a feeling I was being ripped off!

Hi,

It's worth going if you have never been, especially for the children.

Thanks
