What is a nice area to buy or rent in Bathurst (or should it be avoided)?

My husband has a job interview next week in Bathurst so I really need to get my head around the idea of potentially moving there. it sounds like, reading some other threads that Bathurst is a pretty good town. I have a 7 and 3 year old and I was wondering what areas I should focus on looking for a house and if anyone knows which schools stand out as being very good. Thanks
