Reviews of Bayview, NT

"Decent"

One of the safest suburbs in Darwin area. Living here for over 2 years since 2018. Personally had one attempted house break-in a few years back. One car break-in recently.
Neighbours are friendly and keep to themselves. Less than 5 mins car drive to the CBD. Midges/sand flies can be a real problem when sitting outside so you'll have to invest in a Thermacell mosquito repellent device which are found at Bunnings.
Homes are good quality and everyone keeps their yards clean, green, and tidy. No public transport on weekends or public holidays. Parks are always clean, green, and tidy. Roads are perfect i.e. no potholes. No hooning. No wild parties. Good place to raise young family if you live in Darwin area.

"Looks good feels good until sundown"

There is a wow factor living here if you can put up with the bugs, you will be eaten alive by sandflies mosquitoes and anything else that likes to eat human flesh. When the sun goes so do your windows and on with the air conditioner for human preservation.

"Beautiful but looks can be a bit deceiving"

Large expensive homes, beautiful newer suburb, bay area, quiet streets, safe but looks can be deceiving. The majority is built on reclaimed land, recurring sewer issues inthe entire suburb and bay area is actually cleaned out mangroves. Lots and lots of sandflies!!! Quick run to the shop is not possible.Have to drive into the city, Own transport definitely necessary. Quite a few high density dwellings ( multiple story units and townhouses) in between the large homes so probably a good spread among middle income to super wealthy. Suitable for young trendy couples or retirees who do not mind the mdigies but would definitiely not recommend for families with kids. No proper park. Very small enclosed play area in a separate part of the suburb. And midgies keep kids away from outdoor play. Primary school and childcare are in the next suburb. Quite close but too far to walk. Option is the school bus. Lived here for a year but decided to move.
