Bomaderry, NSW 2541

I have lived in Bomaderry for seven years. My husband and I relocated from Sydney, when his job allowed him to work from home three days a week. The move has given us the affordability to let me stay at home with our two children for 3 years - something we could not have done in a more expensive area.
The move meant our children could grow up with a backyard, walk to school in a safe neighbourhood and enjoy local sports with their friends.
While we have lived here our house has increased significantly in value. We have had the free time to join in with community groups and contribute to bettering the community by volunteering.
We plan to live here longterm and I definitely reccommend it to other young families, who want to be able to commute to Sydney, without the stress of the expense.

I've lived in Bomaderry for seven years and I have never ever smelled anything eminating from Manildra. Neither in all my years here have I ever heard anyone mention any smell. The factory, which is located well away from the residential area in the rural part of town provides valuable employment for the region. Bomaderry is a lovely town, close to shopping in Nowra but with its own facilities including 2 IGA supermarkets. There's a post office, chemist, newsagent, bakers, hairdressers x 4, hardware to mention just a few of the businesses. People are friendly and the overwhelming majority are very proud of their homes. Value for money. Thumbs up !

Bomaderry offers housing for people on a variety of budgets. Overall, it is a good place to live, but BEWARE of the STINK!

There is a large factory (Manildra) on the right side of Bolong Road just outside of Bomaderry as you head towards Shoalhaven Heads (it's the one with all the metal tanks and pipes in it). They produce various foodstuffs and ethanol from grain products. Often, when the wind is in the right (or wrong) direction this factory covers parts of Bomaderry with a filthy reek (I think it smells like Vegemite mixed with water and left out in the sun for a few weeks) which can hang around for days. The worst affected area is down around the shops across from the railway station, but depending which way the wind is blowing it can reach all areas (for example, a summer nor' easter will blow it back into Central Nowra).

Check with trustworthy locals regarding the stink status of the area you are buying into - and factor this into your decision making process. You have been warned!
