"Boyne Island - Over 20km Walking/Cyling paths"

Boyne Island is the twin town to Tannum Sands and is predominantly built around our beautiful Boyne River. As you drive into Boyne Island from Gladstone and over the bridge which joins the two towns you will honestly be amazed at the beauty this town has to offer.

The Turtle Way Cycle & Walking 20km path starts in Boyne Island and from here you can take the path all along the Boyne River, over the bridge and onto the Tannum Sands side where you can continue to follow it all around to either the prestigious Riverside Estate or around to the Tannum Surf Club.

Around Boyne Island there are several boat ramps, which is a necessity for our Gladstone region as we have one of the largest boat registrations in Australia! The Boyne River has recently been dredged allowing easier access to our beautiful waterways and islands. The fishing is great, along with prawns and crabbing!

Boyne Island has a local golf club and bowling club as well as magnificent sporting fields which offer facilities for Junior & Senior Rugby, Junior & Senior Netball, AFL, soccer and cricket.

Our annual music festival "Under The Trees" is held in September and the line up of musicians makes this festival not one to be missed!

Boyne Island has a lovely Primary School along with a number of day care options.

Throughout this small community there are many home hairdressers and beauticians - just ask the locals and they will be sure to help you out here!

The major shopping complex accommodates Woolworths, a bottle shop, cafe and a chemist and there is a local bakery and laundromat.

Being a long term local resident of Tannum Sands, I love living in this region, and enjoy all that this region has to offer.

Boyne Island is great for families, walking distance to the river from most areas around Boyne Island & only a short drive to the shops. Boyne Island has the main boat ramp in town with easy access to the mouth of the Boyne River. Boyne Island has its own Primary School along with Daycare Centre to compliment the school. Boyne Island has its own Woolworths and Chemist making life in Boyne Island easy.

"Fantastic family lifestyle"

Boyne Island provides a friendly safe environment to bring up your family, with unlimited investment potential. It also provides every opportunity to lead a healthy, active lifestyle, with wonderful biketracks, sporting clubs and facilities, boat ramps and the barrier reef at your doorstep. There are a number of public and private schools, and CQ Uni 20mins away. With a wealth of industry in the area, unemployment is relatively low.

"Quiet & Suburban"

It is a good place for young families with kids, otherwise there is not much happening unless you like fishing!

"Gateway to Barrier Reef"

Boyne Island is across the waves from Tannum Sands on the Central Coast of Queensland. It's humidity is at times quite disturbing, but apart from that it's a great place to be. Especially if you're retiring. For young people there can be a bit of a void, but the beach offers a great distraction. There's local grocery and specialty shops, cafes, schools and fishing outlets. The seafood in town is also excellent with fresh stuff coming into town daily from the trawlers. The locals are friendly and if you watch out fro crocs (which have over the past ten years taken up residency in the Boyne River), you can have a great time either visiting or living here
