Best place to live near Bundaberg

Hi, Im moving up to Bundaberg for at least a year with my husband who will be working at the hospital. Ive never been to Bundaberg and have only spent a short amount of time in the state but was wondering what to expect and where best to live? It is just the two of us (and our fur family) and hoping to live somewhere close to the beach/lake where my dog can spend her days swimming. Any recommendations and general tips on what to expect would be appreciated!!
