Please could anyone offer info on Sydney's surrounding areas for good family living :)

Hi, my husband has a potential job in Sydney (near the state library and aquarium). We have four children and I was looking for somewhere with a large garden/land and a quieter pace of life! Could anyone Please advise me on the surrounding areas to Sydney, up to 2 hour radius ? Thank you :)
