Are there any good day care or pre primary schools in Carlton?

I have a 2 1/2 year old toddler & we (my wife & I) are both professionals & would be working, so would like suburbs that are safe & aren't too expensive but have a good range of day care, primary schools (private as well as good government ones), parks, facilities.
