Looking for a home in Carramar?

"Wonderful community feell"

We are a couple in our late 20s and early 30s who have just bought and moved into Carramar. We absolutely love it. The community spirit is incredible, with neighbours coming up to introduce themselves and say hello, kids playing on the street, the area is whisper quiet with lots of long term residents. We were looking for a long time in many areas before we decided on Carramar. Aside from its proximity to the beach, nature and schools, we were surprised how many amenities there are in the area within a 10min drive! Several pubs and take away joints, 4 supermarkets including the ones in Banksia Grove, Drovers market and Wanneroo shops and Lakeside Joondalup is also round the corner. Transport is great, there's a bus that goes to Joondalup where you can get on the train to the city. All the houses in Carramar are really well kept and maintained, new looking with beautiful gardens. Best decision we could have ever made. We love it here!

"Carramar - The hidden suburbia gem"

Carramar is, in all honesty, a wonderful suburb to live and grow in. It is a good mix of privacy and proximity to amenities. Public transport is well within reach of all streets and the transport infrastructure will be improving as well. The people are friendly and always keen to help. Carramar and Tapping even have a resident's page on facebook for any questions you might have on the suburb.

With regards to crime, it is significantly lower than most neighbourhoods and the youths generally hang around Carramar Village shops and community centre. The kids are generally ok though, nothing to be too worried over.

In summary, great suburb to live in for young and established families. Even the singles or the odd FIFO worker will find this suburb a nice place to come home to.

Great for

  • Beautiful Golf Course
  • Public Transport in abundance
  • Quiet pocket in the North
  • Basic amenities
  • Homes and gardens usually well kept
  • Quiet

Not great for

  • Needs a Tavern

Rentals in Carramar

"A lovely place to live"

Carramar is a lovely place to live and bring up a family, the houses are new and well kept and generally the owners take a pride in their gardens and presentation of their homes. There are exceptions but these are fairly rare. While heavy work is being done in Pinjar Rd and Joondalup Drive there is a bit of noise and dust during the day but once these upgrades are finished the result will have been worth it.
There are many well kept parks dotted around the suburb and the pavements and cycle paths are reasonably well maintained. Security is always important and statistics suggest Carramar is one of the safer suburbs around although from time to time the number of incidents does spike, generally speaking these are not the norm.
Shopping is basic, in the local centre there is a good Woolies and a number of takeaway outlets as well as a pharmacy, Gym and a medical centre, the biggest problem is that all but the Gym and takeaways are closed on Sundays, however Lakeside at Joondalup is open 7 days a week and is only 10 minutes away.
The area is also blessed with a number of good schools in the area, most within walking distance wherever you may live in Carramar.

Great for

  • Basic amenities
  • Homes and gardens usually well kept
  • Quiet

Not great for

  • Needs an over 55 housing complex.
  • Shopping centre not open Sunday

What do you know about the primary and high schools ?

JohnDee

No high school yet in Carramar but the Carramar Primary School seems to have a good reputation. St Stephens in neighbouring Tapping is very well respected and Banksia Grove, next door is planning both high and primary schools on the border of Carramar and Banksia Grove. I would not recommend the schools presently operating in Banksia Grove. Dont confuse the new part of Banksia Grove with the older part with a dodgy reputation, they are very different.

"Great Place To Live & Work"

Having lived in Carramar for 5 years I have seen our good community evolve into a great community within a thriving suburb. With excellent shopping facilities, public and private schools, well maintained parks and the golf course make this a fantastric place to live and raise a family.
Having also worked in Carramar for many years it is safe area in which you can walk and cycle around at anytime without any hassles. Its facilities include a 24hr gym, take away food, woolthworths supermarket and many other specialty stores and a cafe. The community take pride in maintaining their homes and gardens which also makes it a well presented area. The traffic can get a bit busy at time on Cheriton near the shops on Joondalup drive but they are installing a duel carriage way at present which should help this issue. A restraurant and a petrol station is all that is missing at the moment and hopefully we may get these in the immediate area with the new shops to be built only moments away in Banksia Grove. There is plenty of public transport and Carramar is located only 8 monutes or so to Joondalup shops and the freeway entry. With friendly neighbors and locals it is the perfect place to live !

"Now that I work in the area I hardly have to use my car"

I love living in Carramar. I have been in the area since 2004 and my kids go to school at Carramar P.S and do Karate twice a week at the Community Centre. Carramar Village provides shopping possibilities, supermarket, cafe, bakery, fast food outlets, hairdresser, beautician and a chemist. We have a medical centre that bulk bills kids until the age of 16 and soon to come a Dentist. We have a fitness centre and even a Step into Life that carries out classes in the Park and if thats not enough we even have an outdoor circuit training. I can walk my dog across the road and I can see most of this from my front window. The only thing I have to complain about is the teenagers not because they hang around( I know you need to chill) but they should be more considerate and not break bottles, litter, graffiti and break public property.

Great ideas to think about thank you, can you go into more detail on the schools, why are you happy with carramar ps and what high school do they go to from there ? is the teenager prob a big issue as i dont want to live where break ins may occur.

"A growing reputation as a very desirable place to live"

Within 5 to 8 minutes Carramar has almost every convenience for comfortable modern living. The local village Shopping Centre is the best I have experienced in 35 years of living north of the river - and every other convenience is just a short trip away - from shopping to transport, schools both private and public, entertainment, beaches and fine dining and yes we do have a superb restaurant at the Drovers complex.

"Carramar - A wonderful place to live"

Having lived in Carramar for the past 2 years I would highly recommend it as a safe and enjoyable place to live. We have really lovely parks, a golf course, shopping centre and community centre. Fellow residents are very friendly and it has a real community spirit.

I especially like that I can walk my dog late at night on my own and not feel worried or theatened in any way. It is a relatively quiet suburb and residents respect the area and keep their properties well maintained.

The only negatives I find are the lack of a nice restaurant, no petrol station (nearest is BP Currambine) and that it maybe would not be ideal for singles.

We agree - we were one of the last to build a home in Carramar - we went through three estates and looked at different options before deciding on Carramar. We loved the time that we lived there - it's such a friendly neighbourhood. Now that the shopping centre is up there that's a big bonus

mumzietwo

how far away is the BP and do you think there is room for a petrol station closer ? Do you know much about the schools ?
