"Central"
Nice central street undergoing major urban renewal, runs through the middle of the best part of Cheltenham (in my opinion).
Lots of new houses, townhouses. Bernard Street shops nearby (which are lively and offer some great food), especially the Thai and French bakery.
There can be a bit of traffic on Cavanagh Street itself, so try to buy one of the streets that run off it.

"Busy street"
A busy street, with a fair bit of hoon behaviour at night at its northern end near Bernard Street. We're kept awake with squealing car tires, burnouts, youths sitting on our fence smoking and chatting, and noisy cars. With friends living on other parts of Cavanagh Street, it is quieter and they have beautiful homes. Just not right where we are! Lots of students from the high school and the parking and traffic that it generates.

- Very close to Southland, with buses directly to it
Cons
- Everyone's short cut
- Lots of hoon behaviour late at night at the north end
- Quarry about to be redeveloped - lots of construction traffic expected
