"A boutique beachside suburb"

A great little suburb where you can feel you out of the rat race a little. Away from Bondi and Bronte which can get a busy, once you are in Clovelly, it feels calmer, safer and still has all the benefits of the beaches, cafes and culture

"Quiet Clovelly"

Clovelly is a beachside suburb of Sydney, situated 8 kilometres south east of the GPO in the Eastern Suburbs and the local government area of the City of Randwick. It is bounded on the north by Bronte, on the east by the Pacific Ocean, Randwick to the west and Coogee to the south. It has a population just over 4,300, 21% of whom are under 18 and 13% are over 60.

The area was settled in the 1830s and named after the village of Clovelly in Devon, England.

The suburb has a village atmosphere with a small shopping centre. The beach is quiet and suitable for most. The baths have been heritage listed. The Clovelly Surf Life Saving Club was founded in 1906 making is one of the first SLSCs in the world. The beach is a popular SCUBA diving site and many people enjoy snorkelling in the area. Near the beach is a nice park with play facilities for children.

Houses are not cheap averaging about $1,600,000. There are two primary schools in the suburb, one government and one Catholic. Older children need to travel to neighbouring suburbs for school.

It is serviced by regular buses to the city and larger commercial suburbs such as Bondi Junction.

Ah, Clovelly is not quiet neither is its beach in summer! It's busy as, on a sunny day you won't get a park anywhere near the bay to go swimming! Let alone find a space on the concrete or sand to lay your towel down.

"Clovelly - a suburban snorkel paradise."

Clovelly Beach is an ideal spot for a summer’s day. Situated between Bondi and Maroubra the area is an ideal spot to holiday, rest or invest. Only a short distance to Sydney CBD or Bondi Junction there is no end of great shopping and entertainment venues. Accommodation is plentiful in and around the area and the beach is ideal for all. A calm almost bay like beach it is a favorite for families, snorkelers and divers, with many dive schools using these waters as a training ground. Although it rarely gets too rough, there is a swimming pool at the end of the beach. Clovelly is great for picnics with play equipment for the children, toilet facilities and a huge parking area.

"Clovelly is a small suburb on the east coast of Sydney with a tiny beach to its name."

Clovelly does have a beach to its name but it is only hankerchief size. The Clovelly inlet is very narrow and not even surf gets in, more a swell if anything.

Clovelly is really more a residential suburb and if people from here want to go to the beach they would probably go to Bondi Beach or Coogee. Both places are within walking distance, although Bondi is really a bit of a stretch.

Very much a rental area with young people and beach lovers living in the area. It really has quite a transient population.

Clovelly itself does not have much in the way of shopping or eateries and the like, and even for these people would gravitate to other area.

There are some stunning views to be had though from around the headland walkways and from some of the apartment buildings.
