How is the area near Mercy College tram stop at Sydney Road?

After living for more than 3 years in Carlton, we are planning to move to Coburg North. The place we chose is near the Mercy College at Sydney Road. I and my wife are working professionals.
Ive read conflicting reviews about Coburg North and to make matters more intriguing, some reviews talk about some parts to choose and others to avoid.
Could you please advise us whether the area near Mercy College tran stop at Sydney Road is safe . I can see that its pretty good in almost every other term. Im more concerned about the safety part. What about the Coburg North in particular.
