What's the best non-tourist thing to do in Colorado Springs?

I have friends coming in from Australia and I've done all the touristy things with them. Any suggestions of fun things to do off the beaten path? They seem to love the Springs in general.

There are a lot of great hiking and biking trails up on Cheyenne Mountain and the surrounding areas - this spring my family hiked around the top of Gold Camp Road, and it was beautiful. These trails aren't frequented too much by tourists; mostly it's full of locals on bikes, horseback, or ATVs.

I was just through the Springs and spent an afternoon walking around downtown and doing some computer work in the many cafes, but this is a good thing to do alone--

If you don't mind going outside COS - visit the Paint Mines in Calhan.
Take them to Suga's for lunch.
Maybe the Colorado Springs Fire Museum?
