Preston safe?

I'm thinking of moving to Preston , high street to be specific. Does anyone know about the safety? Like walking at night and stuff and just in general ?
Is it a racist area ?
Please help!!
Thanks.

Preston is just as safe as any other local suburb. If you walk from Bell Station to Bell City just stick to walking down Bell Street. It's a very busy road almost always and very well lit. Just use common sense. If you're a female on your own at night, stay alert, do not wear ear phones, stick to the main streets, and make sure your phone is charged. Honestly, you'll be fine.

I've Iived in Preston for a very long time and I have always felt safe. I even go for walks in the evening and feel perfectly safe. As mentioned above, you always need to be cautious these days no matter where you live. I find people are friendly and nod when you walk past. Lots of schools in the area, primary schools, high school, and tertiary. Lots of diversity. All walks of life. Fab market too.

Hi Freezyk
Being a local resident myself I can say that I've never had any trouble walking around at night. High Street, is a pretty active place... that being said I would say its safe if you stay to the main road, but always be cautious! As for is it a racist area, I would say no, Preston is a diverse culture suburb so there is a number of different nationalities. I hope this helps.
