Reviews of Croydon Hills, VIC

"It's Croydon — but classier"

If you've read my review of Croydon, you'll know my fundamental opinion of this place. I lived in Croydon Hills/Croydon for 28 years, the first 12 of which were in the former. When it comes to housing and local schools, Croydon Hills trumps Croydon in terms of quality. There's also a local community centre and some decent footpaths and green spaces. Ultimately, Croydon Hills is ideal for upper-middle class families. Though this was a fantastic place to spend my childhood, I don't think it would suit me now as it's far from public transport and — of course — rather far away from the city. (Also, I probably couldn't afford it. Let's be real.)

"Safe, green, close to excellent schools"

The area has always been very safe and great for walks, with a sense of space. But the gentrification of Ringwood etc puts it within easy reach of excellent cafes and restaurants, and shopping facilities. Croydon, just down the road, has also come to life in the past couple of years. The whole area is developing a new type of community vibe. Close to a wide range of great schools, Croydon Hills has become a highly desirable to live. I can get to the other side of the city by car in 30-35 minutes during quiet periods.

Great for

  • Developing community vibe in Croydon Hills and surrounding areas.
  • People are generally very considerate.
  • Big open spaces
  • Family friendly
  • Nice neighbourhood
  • Quite neighbourhood
  • Schools

"A quiet, clean and friendly neighbourhood to bring up our kids."

We moved here a few years back and can't be happier. We have bought in a quite court with friendly neighbours, lots of park nearby for the kids, close to some of Melbourne's top schools and easy to get around. This area is very quirt and you can hear ad see birds flying over into the nearby parks which makes you feel like you are away from suburbia. Love this place and won't be moving for a long time

"Home sweet home"

I've grown up in Croydon Hills and have nothing bad to say! Only 5 minutes from Eastlink, it's still close enough to the city and other areas.. but maybe I'm used to the drive? I go to uni in Berwick and by using Eastlink also, it only takes me 30 minutes to get there.
The main shopping area would be Eastland, only 5 minutes away also. Knox Shopping Centre is not too far away either.
Eating out is pretty good - mostly a lot of Thai and Indian places around.
Can often be frustrating when wanting to go out at night and can't drive.. its an expensive taxi ride home from the city!
I worked at a local Pharmacy and gradually become familiar with all the local residents who are all very friendly.
I went to a private primary school and high school and had the best experience at both.
I would say it is ideal for families with children. There's a lot of space and numerous parks in the area. There's quite a decent variety of private and public schools.
A very quiet suburb but sometimes disrupted by troublesome youths.
All in all, I find it a great suburb to live in!
