Is Currumbin creek safe for swimming? I've heard there may be sharks in the creek?

It appears a fisherman caught several bullsharks in Currumbin Creek,as per an article in Gold Coast Bulletin 12th January2019. It was apparently further up the creek, but no confirmation of spot, and the person returned them to the water. I have been swimming in the esuray for over 25 yrs and never seen one, so if there is an issue, we need to know, even though it will affect tourism here.

It is very rare that there is a shark, one has never been spotted IN the creek but lifeguards patrol the area all day, so they'll evacuate everyone if one is spotted. I live near Currumbin and have never seen a big creature in the creek, no need to worry!!
