Reviews of Doonan, QLD

"Stunning Sunshine Coast location"

Nestled between Eumundi and Noosa, Doonan offers an amazing Sunshine Coast hinterland lifestyle if you’re looking for peace, quiet and large spaces blending bush and rural.

Public transport is limited and you’ll need to head to Noosa and surrounds for services.

Eumundi Public School is wonderful if you have young kids.

Looking for a home in Doonan?

"Beautiful, Green, Quiet with plenty of walking for dogs and a safe friendly family lifestyle. Buses for the local schools are available."

Doonan is the 'Quiet, green suburb of Noosa. The Noosa 'lungs''

Noosa is 10 mins away. There is local shopping 5 mins away, with a new local Petrol station selling most needed goods just down the road. Noosa Civic shopping centre is about 7 mins away offering all the amenities of the larger shopping centers.

Noosa Valley Golf Course is the most beautiful of all the local golf courses with lakes and kangaroos and abundant birdlife.

There are cafe's on the Noosa Eumundi road as well as garden centres and a fruit store. Eumundi, the neighbouring town is about 7 mins away so you can easily take your guests to this charming little town with it's famous markets held each week.

Cooroy, the local town is closeby and is a wonderful, friendly small town with cafe's and chemists and an IGA which is very popular with the locals.

We head down to the less busy beaches of Coolum and Peregian.

Peregian Springs has a Coles supermarket and great amenities and schools for kids.

Peregian is a lovely little beach suburb with loads of amenities and boutique shops and the famous Poet's cafe and the superb Pitchfork restaurant. The local Thai restaurant is first class.

I have lived in Doonan for 15 years and would not change it for the world. We don't even feel like travelling as we feel we are on holiday every day.

"No internet"

A great place for retirees, but be warned lack of or no internet in some places like Tallgum Ave. Very disappointing.

Internet is better than most!
There must be one or two odd streets where it is a bit of a problem like most suburbs. But a technician told me that internet bandwidth is surprisingly excellent in the area since the cables were laid a long time ago and have a lot of copper in them, because they are thicker the distance to the telephone exchange to get a broadband signal is a lot further!

We have no problem with internet and tv reception - we get local and brisbane tv reception and we are with telstra for internet connection and run a business. So maybe you need to check on the tv and internet reception before considering buying a home in the area. Maybe some places are better than others. None of our friends in the area are having problems either so I don't know where the complaints are coming from. Moat of the lines are direct through to Nambour sub station.

Rentals in Doonan

"Doonan's the best Kept Secret on the Coast!"

We love Doonan because it is peacefull and spacious and only a few minutes to the coast and shops etc. Lots of nice people living here for similar reasons. It is the good life in so many ways compared to busy suburban living. Lots fo room to to grow your own veges and have fresh eggs from chooks. The kids can play endlessly outdoors in a really large yard. Moved from Sydney to get out of the big smoke and could not be happier.

We are moving to Doonan in early 2019. We have 13 and 12 yr old boys. What schools did you choose? My youngest has dyslexia so school choice is critical. Thanks

"Quiet and beautiful but facilities are easily accessible."

Our young family has lived in Doonan since 2000 and it is country life just 15-20 minutes from Noosa to the north-east, 15-20 minutes from Peregian Beach to the south-east, and 10 minutes to Eumundi to the south-west.

Noosa Civic shopping centre is only about 10 minutes away and we have fantastic "Fruits" a fruit/veg and small grocery shop as well as wonderful "Alfresco", a popular coffee shop right in our neighbourhood. "Eumundi Meats" is a superb organic butchery.

For the children, there is a huge choice of schools within a 20 minute radius as well as beach activities, several public swimming pools, many sporting opportunities and clubs, parks, and playgroups. There is a huge variety of high quailty professional services within that radius.

It's hilly, leafy, quiet and pretty with lots of wildlife and beautiful homes. Many people run their businesses from home and love the lifestyle.

"Valley Drive, Doonan"

I lived in Valley Drive Doonan for 4 years and miss it terribly. Valley Drive Doonan is an exclusive area, quite, green and leafy and has amazing bird life (thanks to the Noosa Valley Country Club Golf Course), with beautiful homes and friendly neighbours. Doonan has the advantage of being close enough (10 minutes) from Noosa's beaches, restuarants and Hasting street - but away from the Maddening crowd.

"Semi Rural with easy access to Noosa LifeStyle"

I have lived in Doonan for 7 years and loved every minute. It is a mixture of rural peacefulness and closeness to nature and the sophisticated life that Noosa is famous for. Access to modern communications of all type allows one to work from home. 20 mins to the airport is better than in most cities and there are virtually no traffic problems. The fresh air, gentle climate and relaxed atmosphere are good for the psychic. Close to Cooroy, a bustling no nonsense rural town, shopping at Noosa Civic (a large city like shopping centre) and the more elegant Noosa itself - all within 10-20 mins drive away. I hope to be able to return to this lovely spot later in a few years time.

Great review Susie3. Sounds like a nice place to live.

Just wondering if there are any issues with hoons and bands of motorcycles. We live in the northern beaches in Sydney which is stunning but it has been ruined by excessive noise from modified vehicles. Looking to move to Doonan area to find some quiet.

Have just purchased a property in Doonan and finally take possession on 24th of February. Have lived in Pyrmont, Sydney for the past 15 years but needed a change, hence found a beautiful place in Doonan which we cannot wait to move to. Based on all the positive reviews makes us wanna get there asap. Can't wait.
