How safe is East Atl?

Looking to move & want to be close to Brownwood Park... crackheads? robberies? how's MARTA down there? I don't mind the buses in general but are these lines safe-ish? Thank

My office is in East Atlanta and I have lots of friends who live in the neighborhood and it's come a LONG way in the last 12 to 15 years. I personally feel safe, but I probably wouldn't walk home by myself after 10pm. As for the crime, you should call the local precinct and speak to one of the beat cops -- they always give you the full scoop on a neighborhood! A good website is also www.spotcrime.com. Hope that helps a bit!
