I don't know Lorna but you could try talking to the local history librarian at the Ipswich library - they may be able to help. See http://library.ipswich.qld.gov.au/lh/ipshistory.htm

Hi Lorna, I was just looking through the street on Google Maps, and ALL of the houses in that street are older houses, none of which were built any later than the 1950's. Do you know if Rothwell existed after the 50's or not? If so, it's quite possible that it's still there. There's also an abandoned general store in that street as well.

Hi Tom thanks for the interest, the home was in Fox Street in 1887, my great Uncle William Stafford purchased it and called it "Rothwell" after a village in Yorkshire UK just thought maybe someone may have kept the name if the home was no longer there. There were 5 Stafford coal miners father & four sons, one of Williams others brothers had a home called "Sandhurst" this was after the 1893 floods. The family seemed to be quite well to do in Ipswich at the time. Do family history, lots of work to do yet.
